"Five by five." Rather, five *times* five.

From Facebook with love. E scusate per l'anglofonia dilagante, era il tipo di scrittura che in italiano non ha lo stesso effetto.

25 Random Things About Me

1. I am utterly afraid of bureaucracy, even though I have filled in all kinds of forms for at least three different governments. Maybe it was not so smart to start this note in the midst of my Tax Return frenzy.

2. I own a guitar, but I never really learned how to play it. I want to, however. Any volunteers?

3. I can live in complete chaos and still swear by color-coding.

4. "Emotion is my middle name."

5. Even if you know me just a little, there is absolutely no chance you may have not noticed my hopeless tea addiction. I worship tea. Tea is your savior. Tea is good, in any form or variety: Lavender, Vanilla Jasmine, Rose, Ylang-Ylang, Green Tea with Strawberry, Arizona Green Tea, tea popsicles, tea-scented lotion, tea books, tea parties, the Tea Party, the Boston Tea Party. But *Alice's* tea party beats them all (especially when held at Alice's Tea Cup in NYC).

6. Speaking of which, the association with Alice is Wonderland is probably the only thing I really like about my name. I cannot stand the [c] sound in Italian, which explains why I have always been happy to switch to the anglophone or francophone pronunciations of my name when I was abroad. Ain't I curiouser and curiouser.

7. "I enjoy cross-referencing." I am the self-appointed Queen of Wilfing and a helpless Wikipedia addict, with a thirst for knowledge almost as unquenchable as Rupert Giles's.

8. Which brings me to the fact that my recent Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Harry Potter addictions have made me realize that I could really use a Giles/Dumbledore/Gandalf figure in my life.

9. As much as I complain about the cold and the humidity, I just love rain. Face it.

10. But there is nothing like snow. Or rainbows, of course.

11. I am undoubtedly a literature person (not to mention the literary *personae* that inhabit my mind :-)), but I aced my Math final at the end of high school. I blame a certain professor (or more than one, rather) for killing the scientist in me.

12. I could spend my life in a movie theater and never get tired. I tend to favor contemporary US flicks, but I'm working on "eclecticizing" my cinematic tastes. I am definitely no expert, but I believe in the validity of the lowercase culture approach and will watch anything from classics to modern-day epitomes of poor cinematography such as Staying Alive. Forgive me, Frankie Muniz.

13. I am a compulsive picture-taker. Even worse, I find it painful to delete pictures from my memory card. Even after I have downloaded them to my computer *and* uploaded them to facebook.

14. My love for the US does not seem to be subsiding even after my "divorce" from the Land of Opportunities, but few people know that it all began with England.

15. I was a hardcore Thatter. At least I had singled out the only band member that was gonna get far.

16. I read, therefore I exist.

17. Once in my life, I would love to try skydiving.

18. At the dawn of the Internet, when Sixdegrees.com was all the rage, I belonged to their Chapstick Addicts online group. I never leave my house without at least a couple chapsticks in my bag (preferably one that is highly moisturizing and one that has an aromatherapeutic power on my nostrils and/or tastebuds). I still maintain a chapstick collection (color-coded, ça va sans dire).

19. My self-confidence is bipolar.

20. I am a wanderer at heart, but am still unable to travel light. I live in the eternal and self-invalidating pursuit of the Elsewhere.

21. I own an Obi-wan Kenobi light saber - and am proud of it.

22. Not many people have two-digit lucky numbers. Guess what mine is.

23. I barely ever watch TV, but I periodically develop unhealthy addictions to TV series (God bless boxed sets) and to fictional characters. Tall, decaf, DawsonLeery-SethCohen-Oz blend, please. With a vanilla flavor shot.

24. My favorite place in the world is the observation deck of the Empire State Building.

25. I am so in love with words that I record all kinds of review snippets and random phrases that I happen to read here and there in my "Beautiful writing" archive. I also love quotes, and will often throw in sentences drawn from someone else into any kind of spoken or written conversation (see #4 and #7). Sometimes, when I don't know how to end a blog post or the like, I'll even resort to metaquotes. Such as "Quoth the Raven, 'Nevermore.'"
